When Did Airports Start Use Thermal Scanning Technology?


This is not the first time thermal scanning is being used to screen higher body temperature associated with infections that can source an epidemic. For the duration of the 2002-03 outbreak of the SARS virus, airports in Singapore and China deployed them and have been using them ever since. Indian metropolitan, Mumbai was one of the first Indian airports to utilize them for the period of the swine flu outbreak in 2009. In the year 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa, many countries including India used the cameras. India is said to have these cameras at its key international airports. Heat scanners at Nigerian airports were one of the whys and wherefores the African country remained Ebola-free.
