Why Use Touchless Thermal Screening?
As per the FDA, non-contact infrared thermometers (NCITs) may help
decrease cross-contamination and the risk of spreading diseases, as
opposed to conventional infrared thermometers. They are easy to clean
and use, making them accessible and secure for many people, not just
trained medical professionals. NCIT, however, often refers to a
thermometer that uses infrared but must be operated by a person, which is
less secure and pulls employees away from their work.
The major concern with traditional NCITs is that the operator must bring the
thermometer relatively close to the person being scanned, typically within a
few inches. They may be too close to maintain suitable secure and social
distancing measures. Even with proper personal protective equipment, this
puts both parties at needless risk. With an automatic, touchless
temperature screening machine, there is no further human involvement. There
is not even an item to touch. It is completely contactless, letting employees
and customers abide by social distancing and stay safer.
